Uji Cha Dojo Takumi no Yakata(Uji, Kyoto)

Uji Cha Dojo Takumi no Yakata is an experiential facility for Uji tea operated by the Chamber Of Kyoto Prefecture Tea Public Interest Incorporated Association. Located overlooking the Uji River, it’s a spot where you can casually enjoy Uji tea. The cafe menu offers three types of tea: gyokuro, sencha, and matcha. Japanese tea instructors provide detailed explanations about each type of tea.

At the Uji Cha Dojo Takumi no Yakata, they offer intriguing experiential programs. The “Takumi no Nodate” outdoor tea experience allows you to borrow tea utensils and enjoy a tea ceremony in your favorite location nearby an appealing activity. In the “Tea Brewing Class (Reservation Required),” you can learn how to brew matcha, gyokuro, and sencha properly while also delving into their histories and production methods. Additionally, there’s the “Chakabuki (Reservation Required),” which lets you enjoy a tea-tasting game.

Adjacent to the Uji Cha Dojo Takumi no Yakata is the “Kyoto Prefectural Tea Industry Hall,” a historic building featuring modern Japanese-style architecture from the early Showa period, built-in 1928. It’s one of the important components of the Cultural Landscape of Uji, designated by the national government, and it continues to convey Kyoto’s tea history. Currently, it’s utilized for promoting Uji tea through events and more.
