NAKAMURA TEA LIFE STORE is a Japanese tea specialty shop located in Kuramae, Tokyo. The shop offers tea from the Nakamura Family, a tea farmer who has been cultivating tea for over 100 years in Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
All the tea offered at NAKAMURA TEA LIFE STORE is grown without the use of pesticides and is organically cultivated. In Shizuoka, the Nakamura Family began their journey towards reduced pesticide cultivation in 1979, and by 1989, they had completely transitioned to pesticide-free and chemical fertilizer-free organic cultivation across all their tea gardens. Since then, they have meticulously nurtured their tea gardens without the use of pesticides.
The shop primarily offers various types of green tea, including hojicha (roasted green tea) and kukicha (twig tea), totaling 13 different tea varieties. Each tea exudes the natural vitality of tea leaves, resulting in a distinct flavor.
The main tea variety is “Yabukita,” and since 2020, they have also been selling sencha（Japanese-style green tea） made from the “Tsuyuhikari” variety, which they cultivated over a span of four years. This sencha offers a refreshing taste with a balance of gentle astringency, umami, and sweetness.
With the concept of “From Tea Fields to Teacups,” the shop oversees every aspect of tea production, from cultivation to processing and sales. The stylish packaging design is created by the owner, Mr. Nishigata, who is also a designer.
The shop also sells kyusu (Japanese teapots) selected by Mr. Nishigata from Tokoname. These kyusu are not only easy to use but also feature designs that complement modern living.
