Tea store with over 100 varieties of tea for tasting

Chagama(Shizuoka)

Chagama is a Japanese tea specialty store located in Shizuoka City. It was opened in 2014 by the tea merchant Marumo Mori Shouten, which was founded in 1877. The store is situated about a 10-minute walk from JR Shizuoka Station.

At Chagama, they offer over 100 types of tea for sale. This includes single-origin teas as well as blended teas from various regions across Japan, with a focus on Shizuoka.

All of the 100-plus teas available can be sampled. The staff brews the teas in teapots for you to taste, allowing you to take your time in choosing the teas in the sampling area.

The main feature of Chagama is the use of transparent packaging that allows you to see the contents. The bags are also treated with UV protection to maintain the freshness of the tea. They pay attention to the amount of tea in each package and mainly offer 50g portions, making it easy to handle. This approach makes it convenient even for those who are just starting to explore tea.

Moreover, they offer gift sets where you can freely combine different types of tea.

Inside the store, there’s a casual tea stand where you can enjoy tea. They also serve drinks like “Sencha Espresso” and “Sencha Latte,” made using an espresso machine. These beverages are available for takeout.

Chagama provides an experience where you can truly feel the enjoyment of choosing tea. When you’re searching for tea in Shizuoka, be sure to pay a visit to Chagama.
