norm tea house is a Japanese tea specialty shop located in the Kuramae area of Tokyo. It opened in November 2021 with the theme of being a “tea leaf shop where you can enjoy tea.” The shop is situated in a residential neighborhood about a 10-minute walk from Kuramae Station.

The world of Japanese tea is not limited to sencha

Shop owner Ai Hasegawa has learned about tea from production sites and has been promoting the enjoyment and diversity of Japanese tea through various events and sales gatherings. She has also served as the director of the tea festival “Tea For Peace.” It was with the intention of conveying the appeal of Japanese tea beyond just sencha that Hasegawa opened the norm tea house.

At the shop, a unique selection of tea that showcases the diversity of Japanese tea, such as oolong tea, black tea, and kettle-roasted tea, is offered. Hasegawa sells tea leaves that she has carefully selected based on her convictions.

Comfortable time to choose tea

You can also enjoy tastings of 2 to 3 types of tea at the shop. Take your time selecting tea while engaging in conversation with Hasegawa.

norm tea house also provides a cafe menu. You can indulge in the charms of tea with three types of tea: Straight Tea which allows you to fully appreciate the tea leaves, Tea Latte including matcha latte, and Tea Soda where carbonated water is infused with green tea or oolong tea.

The shop’s interior, renovated from an old folk house, exudes warmth and naturally puts visitors at ease. norm tea house is a place where you can discover new facets of Japanese tea. When exploring the Kuramae area, be sure to pay a visit.
