Enjoying a diverse selection of Japanese tea

SAKURA(Yokohama, Kanagawa)

SAKURA, a Japanese tea specialty store, is located in the serene area of Motomachi in Yokohama. In 2022, the store celebrated its 20th anniversary since opening.

The owner, Ms. Ogata, aims to share the deep flavors and refreshing aromas inherent in Japanese tea. At SAKURA, you can enjoy a diverse selection of tea carefully chosen from various regions across Japan. The tea leaves come from single-origin farms, highlighting the distinct characteristics of each variety. From sencha and black tea to pan-fired green tea, oolong tea, and gyokuro(shaded green tea), their lineup shows the charm of Japanese tea.

The first cup of tea is brewed by the staff, and after the second cup, customers add their own hot water to taste the tea. All teas are made from high-quality tea leaves, so you can enjoy different flavors in the second and third brews.

SAKURA also offers an appealing menu of sweets and meals. Among them, the “Matcha Parfait” is a highly popular choice. It features layers of matcha jelly, matcha agar, and matcha Bavarian cream, creating a parfait that indulges in the essence of matcha.

In-store, you’ll find a selection of tea leaves from various regions in Japan and a range of teapots.

The teapots mainly consist of creations from Tokoname, Aichi, offering a diverse array to consider.

The interior of the shop is a comfortable space with a sense of warmth. Enjoy your tea time with the company of the relaxed and charming store dog, Musashi.
