Quiet tea house in the heart of the city

Itsu(Omotesando, Tokyo)

Itsu is a Japanese tea room located in a back alley of Omotesando, Tokyo. The interior, converted from a traditional house, feels just like a hidden retreat. It’s a place where you can step away from the urban hustle and bustle and connect with yourself while enjoying tea in its purest form.

The Japanese tea curated by the owner, Mr. Tamai, all radiate the unique qualities of the tea leaves.

From the native variety sencha(Japanese-style green tea)of Higashi-Shirakawa Village in Gifu to the withered and oxidized “ichou” tea that exudes a floral-like aroma, and even the premium gyokuro from Yame Hoshino Village in Fukuoka,  a wide range of flavors can be savored.

The tea is meticulously prepared with dedicated tea utensils. Simply observing Mr. Tamai’s graceful gestures, influenced by his familiarity with both flower arrangement and tea ceremony, can be a soothing experience in itself.

The time spent with tea in the tranquility of the surroundings is truly exceptional. As the interior only accommodates five seats, making reservations is highly recommended.
