Serving the finest Shizuoka tea and Matcha beer

Omatcha Kondo no Shokudou(Shizuoka)

Omatcha Kondo no Shokudou is a Japanese cuisine restaurant located in Shizuoka City. It’s situated along Aoba Symbol Road in the central downtown area.

The restaurant offers a variety of set meal menus, including the famous local dish “tororo-jiru” (grated yam soup), as well as evening dishes featuring seasonal Shizuoka ingredients and local sake. The owner, Mr. Kondo, who is a certified Japanese tea instructor, has also curated an extensive tea menu.

A highly recommended option is their “Ichijyu Sansai” set meal, which includes one soup and three side dishes. You can choose from around 15 different main course options, including fish and meat.

Each set meal comes with tea, and they provide both cold and hot water, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely tea experience alongside your meal.

The tea selection primarily focuses on single-origin teas from individual tea estates within Shizuoka Prefecture. They offer various types such as light-steamed sencha, deep-steamed sencha, black tea, and hojicha. You can even grind fresh matcha using the tea mill and enjoy it right at the counter.

One of their popular items is the “Omatcha Shot,” a beer cocktail that combines freshly ground matcha with beer. It offers a delightful balance between the mellow flavors of matcha and the mild bitterness and crispness of beer.

During the evening, they offer à la carte dishes as well. Their alcohol menu includes Japanese sake and shochu, and they also recommend trying the “Omatcha-wari,” a blend of their specialty tea and shochu. If you’re looking to enjoy Japanese cuisine paired with a selection of quality teas and beverages, Omatcha Kondo no Shokudou is a place worth visiting.
