Japanese tea and spice-themed cafe and restaurant

Nodate(Nagoya)

Nodate is located about a 5-minute walk from Nagoya’s subway station, Gokiso. Opened in February 2022 as the sister establishment of the cafe Nocake in Nagoya’s Naka Ward.

Nodate offers a unique blend of cafe culture during the day and transforms into a restaurant and bar with a focus on Japanese tea and spices during the evening. The concept revolves around “savoring everyday life within a special space. “The interior is elegantly styled with a unified color scheme of black, white, and gray.

Nodate offers a selection of Sencha, Black Tea, and Kamairicha(Pan-fired green tea) sourced from Higashishirakawa Village in Gifu Prefecture. Their tea service follows the Nodate style, which involves a slightly lukewarm first steeping, a hotter second steeping, and a third steeping combined with spices. You can enjoy your tea leisurely using their well-crafted Tokoname-yaki teapots.

Nodate aims to offer the experience of savoring tea in a manner similar to whiskey or wine. To achieve this, they serve cold-brewed tea in whiskey bottles and offer a tasting menu for comparing three different types of cold-brewed tea in various glassware, including rocks and wine glasses.

One of their highly recommended items from the cafe menu is their cheesecakes, with unique offerings such as the “Gorgonzola Cheese Cake” and the “Foie Gras Cassis Cheese Cake,” among six distinct varieties. Don’t forget to explore the delightful pairings with Japanese tea.

As the evening sets in, the ambiance shifts to a restaurant and bar, where you can indulge in fusion cuisine blending Italian and Chinese flavors. The menu includes dishes like Carpaccio and a variety of dishes featuring fish, meat, and pasta infused with spices.

The drink menu at Nodate is extensive, with a focus on Japanese spirits and a stock of over 240 different types of liquor. They also offer cocktails incorporating tea. Nodate provides a casual and versatile setting suitable for various occasions. Feel free to visit and unwind at this inviting establishment.
