KAMAKURA HOTEL(Kamakura, Kanagawa)

Located just a 2-minute walk from JR Kamakura Station, KAMAKURA HOTEL is a unique hotel with a tea-themed sauna. The hotel’s concept combines traditional Japanese elements with modern aesthetics, offering meticulous Japanese-style service and allowing guests to experience the charms of Kamakura’s changing seasons.

With 16 rooms, the accommodations feature a modern yet traditional Japanese design, providing a relaxing and serene atmosphere.

Each guest room is equipped with tea from Yame, Fukuoka, and the teacups are custom-made by popular ceramic artist Keisuke Okazaki.

A highlight of the hotel is the exclusive and private tea-themed sauna available only to hotel guests. This sauna room resembles a traditional tea room and offers a place to fully enjoy the sauna experience without interruption.

During the sauna session, green tea leaves are used for the löyly(heat of the sauna). When the green tea is sprinkled on the sauna stones, the gentle aroma of tea permeates the sauna, creating a unique and relaxing atmosphere.

Guests can also enjoy various teas, including sencha and hojicha, in their rooms and during breaks in the sauna experience. The facility also provides a cold water bath and an outdoor relaxation area, ensuring a complete sauna environment.

On the first floor, there is a bar offering a selection of Japanese alcoholic beverages. Guests can enjoy carefully selected Japanese sake and shochu from different regions of Japan. They even offer unique concoctions like “Mizudashi Gyokuro Highball,” which is a highball cocktail with cold-brewed gyokuro tea.

Staying surrounded by the essence of tea offers a one-of-a-kind experience. It is sure to provide relaxation for both the mind and body. When exploring Kamakura, be sure to consider staying at this unique hotel.
