Buying local tea from all over Japan

Nippon Hyakkaten Shokuhinkan(Akihabara, Tokyo)

Located just a 1-minute walk from the Electric Town exit of JR Akihabara Station, the commercial facility CHABARA houses a food specialty store known as Nippon Hyakkaten Shokuhinkan. With the concept of a “food theme park,” this store offers approximately 4,000 carefully selected regional gourmet items from all over Japan. From snacks and sweets to seasonings, retort foods, canned goods, and beverages, they provide a diverse range of products.

Inside the store, the layout is organized by prefecture, showcasing a wide array of regional teas. You’ll find unique teas that are not easily available in Tokyo, including those from Shizuoka, and Kagoshima, as well as distinctive teas like Asamiya tea from Shiga Prefecture and teas from Shimane.

Nippon Hyakkaten is a select shop that sells traditional crafts and goods under the theme of “Creating and Finding Wonderful Things in Japan.” They have stores in various locations such as Nihonbashi, Ueno, Tokyo Station, and Yokohama. Since each store includes a tea section, if you come across one of their shops, be sure to check out the tea offerings.
